Lizzie Raffles is our enterprise specialist working with students and graduates, helping them to become self-employed or to set up social enterprises.
Before becoming a Business Advisor, she was a professional yacht skipper for many years, coaching and developing teams to race effectively. Alongside this she has set up her own businesses in marketing and retail. She thrives on the variety and the continual learning necessary in doing different things, but the thread that pulls it all together is a wish to help others develop and achieve their goals.
Her favourite thing about working for Inspiring Enterprise is being able to make a difference, helping people develop their ideas and to give them the confidence to prepare and launch a viable business.
Lizzie’s Top Business tip:
“Think about the problems your target customers face and how you can solve them. Once you’re clear on your purpose, or your ‘why’, you’ll find it much easier to create a brand and market your business.”
If Lizzie wasn’t helping start-ups and small businesses, she says “I’d have a few projects on the go… I’d like to set up a luxury glamping site and a cool café, but I’d make sure I have some time left for sailing!”
When she is not working, she loves to spend as much time as possible outdoors with her family and dog, as well as reading, training in the gym and enjoying afternoon tea!
